Kuna Bird Mola Molas are made using a reverse appliqué process, in which several layers of different-colored cloth are loosely sewn together, the design is formed by cutting parts of each layer away, and the edges of the layers are then stitched down. Used traditionally as fronticepieces on women’s blouses, molas may be attached to jackets or framed for display as art pieces. Donated by Jaime Blanco |
